YVES 2023

THIS COLLECTION is inspired by a photograph taken in 1974 by Reginald Gray of Yves Saint Laurent wearing a satin bathrobe in his bedroom.

The sheen and deep colour of his bathrobe, its protective wrap around the body, the sensuality and elegance it gives Yves in his most intimate space, the bedroom, were the impetus to look at this particular garment and make an entire collection out of it.

The fashion shoot was held in a Latin dance hall in Luxembourg. An empty space that is normally used by many people who come together and enjoy a common thing: dancing. The many stories that have already taken place in this space, from interpersonal approaches and separations to the most primal form of human expression, dance itself, set the tone for the presentation of this collection.

Here a curtain, there a mirror and a flamenco chair or simply the vulnerable moment before going on stage to let oneself go are elements that are subtly suggested in these images so that we know where we are without explicitly underlining it.

The particular light and vision of photographer Sofie Knijff and the intuitive internalisation of the garments by the two actresses Amandine Truffy and Sophie Langevin, bring this intimacy to the surface in a delicate and mystical way.
